Streaming wars intensifies: Hulu drops price after Netflix hikes its rate
For those who feel jilted by the Netflix rate hike, its rival is telling those folks, "Come on home."Hulu said it will offer the first year of the streaming service for $5.99 a month to new customers. Hulu's per-month rate regularly costs $7.99 a month.The rate is being offered for a limited time, according to the service.Coincidentally, Hulu's announcement comes a week after Netflix announced it's raising some of its prices. Sears to close iconic Midtown location
The upcoming holiday season will be the last one for the iconic Sears store in Midtown. The building at 4201 Main will close in late January. A liquidation sale will start Nov. 10. The closure is part of Sears' plan to close hundreds of locations nationwide. The company closed about 180 stores this year, and it expects to add an additional 150 to that list by the end of the third quarter. Taco Bell to Get Rid of Drive-Thru, Add Booze
HOUSTON – Taco Bell is reportedly going to open more than 300 new locations around the country but with a much different layout. According to Food & Wine, the plans call for the new locations to be “cantina style.” They won’t have a drive-through but they will serve alcohol. “The majority of the new urban in-line”locations will serve beer, wine, sangria, and Twisted Freezes, aka slushies with tequila, rum, or vodka. Two Houston-area sheriff’s departments confirm the reality TV show COPS is filming with its deputies starting Tuesday. “We're looking forward to @CopsTV joining us,” the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office tweeted.
