Texas Tea Company in Hilarious Sign War with Wendy’s Across the Street

In Lubbock, Texas, you might not want to get caught in the crossfire at the corner of 4th and Frankford, lest you end up in the middle of the sign war between the Pure Water Tea and Ice Company and the local Wendy’s. The fast food chain is well-known for social media antics that take a no-holds-barred approach when it comes to confronting naysayers, and the Assistant Manager at the Texas tea company, Kyler Smith, told local station KCBD that the sign war is officially, “on.”

Smith told the station that he has long been trying to engage and provoke the fast food giant with clever Pure Water signs for some time. The sign that made Wendy’s finally fight back? Smith told KCBD, “We had Kliff Kingsbury drinks for free out on the sign.”

The managers haven’t spoken to each other and only speak through the signs. They’re not quite sure when the sign war will come to an end. As Smith told the news station, It’ll continue “until one of us can’t think of something,” while Perez answered, “‘Til they stop I guess.”

However, Kingsbury still hasn’t picked a place so maybe when he finally picks a side in the Lubbock sign war, the billboards will resort back to their decidedly less funny advertisements. For now, let’s enjoy some of the choice sign calls and responses that people have posted on social media, some using the hashtag #4thStreetSignWar.
