George Strait Says He’s Planning Harvey Relief with Country Music Community

George Strait made an interesting announcement on Twitter today: Apparently, he is working on relief efforts with the country music community at large.

He didn’t elaborate on what exactly those efforts entailed, but we might smell a benefit concert brewing.

Strait is originally from the Lone Star State and lives there. He owns a home in Rockport, where Hurricane Harvey first made landfall over the weekend.

He also mentioned that the hurricane personally affected some of his family and friends.

Strait is one of many country stars who was deeply affected by the storm. Native Texan Miranda Lambert sent her pet-focused charity, the Mutt Nation Foundation, down to Houston to relieve local shelters.

Chris Young, who is originally from Tennessee but has lived in Texas and owns a home on the coast, offered $100,000 of his own money to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey victims.

Other notable contributions have come from Luke Combs, Josh Abbott and Lady Antebellum.

We’ll keep you updated on just what the King of Country is cooking up, as soon as more info becomes available.
