Texas Woman's 'Extreme Couponing' Provides Thousands in Goods for Harvey Victims
A Texas woman is putting her money-saving savvy to help victims of Huricane Harvey. Kimberly Gager told CBS that she put out a call to shop for people and uses her lunch break and after-work hours to deliver products to people's homes. "It's really becoming a second job. I've gotten very little sleep. Sometimes I'm delivering until 1 or 2 a.m.," she said. (Cont'd Below) Gager has been into "extreme couponing" for five years. Her experiences with coupon clipping has led her to spend roughly $2,700 for $5,000 worth of necessary goods, including laundry detergent, diapers and baby formula. The San Antonio...
Texas Hotel in the Midst of Renovations Donates Furniture to Harvey's Homeless
A hotel is your home away from home. It can be even more when your home is underwater. When Hurricane Harvey hit, The Best Western Plus of Lewisville welcomed dozens of heartbroken Houstonians. "All of our team was interacting with these people," said General Manager Chris Patel. "They became like family for three days that they were here." That bond didn’t stop when the rain did nor did the hotel’s desire to give flooding victims a sense of home. One of the businesses based in North Texas was caught allegedly charging drivers $6.99 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas on Aug. 31, the day many drivers reported shortages at the pumps.
